The first part of writing your heart song is figuring out  the message you want to share. This can be a message that YOU need to hear, or a message you’d like to share that will benefit others. (We only write music that is positive and uplifting by nature)

If you’re unsure about your message, I love doing one-on-one consultations (over ZOOM or in person) to help you figure out your main message and how to present it in a way that would be most helpful.

Write

Once you know your song’s message, the next step is working on some tentative lyrics. Lyrics can change as directed by the music, but I always start with the lyric, because these are “message” songs, and getting the message right is the most important thing.

You can write your own lyrics, work with me to write them, or just write a two-page of stream-of-consciousness thoughts on a paper and send them to me. I’ll come up with some ideas that you can approve, change or work with me on. I want you to be completely satisfied with your song!

Add Music

Once you approve the words, we’ll start working on the music. Again, you can write the music yourself, you can help, or I’d be happy to set the words to a melody that will move the words straight to your heart. The more your words “feel” natural and have a catchy rhythm that sounds like you’re speaking, the more they can get stuck in your head and sink directly into your heart. I can teach you how to do this, or I can just do this for you, it will still be your song!

Share

Once melody is completed, and we’ve made any changes to words and lyrics, so that you’re happy with and love your song, you’ll have the option to share your song with others on our Music Showcase. You can share the story behind the song, your inspiration, or just your experience in writing it. These experiences will inspire others to do the same. Sharing your song is also an important part of the healing process. As you share your song with others, and they are also touched by your words,  you’ll be inspiring others through your difficult experiences. This is how negative experiences can be changed into positive ones. It’s been such a blessing to be able to share songs I’ve written with others and feel the joy that comes from having something negative at the time change to something I’m grateful for. t

You don’t have to share your song. However, you’ll get the most out of your song, and your song will be able to bless others. This is an important part of your healing journey, and can help you get through your trials more quickly.
