I have felt for some time now, the intense desire to compose. But I had no idea how to begin. I heard Lindy perform and learned that she gave composing lessons, and jumped on the opportunity. She was so good to work with. She helped me go deep into one of my most painful experiences in life and transcend the pain through the writing. It became such a therapeutic process that I can’t wait to do it again. This song, Air, represents my greatest challenge, and what I learned from it. There was a time when I felt so lost and drowning in negative thought and emotion that I couldn’t see a way out. I couldn’t see the tunnel, let alone the light at the end. I not only did not want to live, I did not want to exist anywhere. My life felt so heavy and dark. Yet looking back, I realize that it was all in my mind. The world I had somehow created with my thoughts, without realizing it. Yes, there were circumstances that were awful, but that will always be the case. What I learned as I hit rock bottom and finally was able to break free from the mirage of negativity within my mind, I learned a powerful lesson. Our thoughts have power. And we have control over them. I know how hard it is to see, understand, and believe that when you are suffocating under the weight of it all. But I know that we have the power to create a wonderful world around us, by choosing to focus day by day on the good. There will always be good. There will always be bad. Choose to focus on the good. Thank you for letting me share this song with you. May it bring hope to those in despair. Light to those in darkness. And air to those who cannot breathe.
